A Pilgrim’s Path

Artists, storytellers and documentarians

Alex Zonjic. Deep in study. I discreetly snapped this photo with my IPhone, converted it to black and white, then used an image copy function to eliminate the background.

Still photographers see the world a little differently than most. We are a curious breed, always looking for ways to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary through the art of composition. We are artists, storytellers, documentarians, and, long before AI, truth-tellers.

My love affair with photography began in my youth, flipping through the pages of my father’s National Geographic collection. The images transported me to faraway places and opened my eyes to a world I never knew existed. Page after page, I was captivated by the artistry, the storytelling, and the ability of a single image to evoke a sense of wonder.

I once aspired to pursue photojournalism as a career, eventually setting my sights on journalism—a field that, back in the day, required me to be both a writer and a photographer. I spent countless hours honing my craft, souping film, printing photographs under the glow of an enlarger, and eventually setting up my own darkroom and print studio in the basement of my home.

That early passion has stayed with me, shaping the way I see the world and the stories I choose to tell through my lens. Today, photography remains a way to explore, connect, and preserve the moments that make our journeys meaningful.

I hope you enjoy these glimpses of our travels and adventures as much as I enjoy capturing them. After all, the joy is not just in the places we visit, but in the stories, moments, and unexpected beauty we discover along the way.
